Summer Seminar :: Housing Information
Everyone participating in the seminar will live in the Chesapeake residence halls, George Mason’s newest and most comfortable residential facility.
These buildings, completed in the fall of 2007, provide single occupancy rooms with a shared bathroom (shared between either two or three people) as well as a living room space at the end of the hall reserved for our group (with a television). The cost for this housing is $27 per night plus a one-time linen charge of $18. The cost for housing will be deducted from your stipend in advance. Telephones can be installed in your room for an additional charge.
These rooms are air-conditioned and the entire building has wireless Internet access. Rooms have cable television hookups and service, but no televisions or cables. Laundry can be done in the residence for an additional nominal charge. Participants will be able to access university fitness facilities for a charge of $4.00 per day.
Participants will have access to University dining facilities. There are also several restaurants right across the street from the University (Thai, Cajun, American, a deli, etc.) and you can also access the restaurants of downtown Fairfax through both a campus shuttle and city buses. A regular shuttle also connects with the nearby Vienna Metro Station for easy commuting to Washington, D.C.
While we strongly recommend that all participants stay in the residence halls, especially because living together increases the opportunities for interaction with other participants, we recognize that these living arrangements are not for everyone. If you wish to stay in an area hotel, the University provides basic information on area hotels. Only those hotels with CUE Bus service should be considered unless you have a car, because we cannot provide for transportation to and from any of the area hotels.
CUE Bus Service/METRO
George Mason University and the surrounding area is served by the CUE Bus. For $.75 you can ride anywhere the CUE Bus goes, including the Vienna METRO station (the closest stop on the Orange Line).
