The Hawaiian lounge
One of the most popular features of United’s Mainliner Stratocruisers is the unique, lower-deck Hawaiian Lounge, furnished in gay Polynesian patterns and colors. You’ll find it easily accessible by way of the spiral staircase leading from the main cabin. Just unhook the safety rope across the entrance and re-fasten it before proceeding to the lower-deck. The Lounge is open at all times for the pleasure of all passengers.

In the rear of the Lounge, just aft of the stairwell, there is a small refreshment bar where fruit juices, soft drinks and beer are served during the afternoon–compliments of United. A table at the forward end of the Lounge is convenient for card playing. If you should feel like a name we request that you do not sleep in the Lounge, but retire to your seat.

Cocktails and other refreshments
Cocktails are served at your seat, also with United’s compliments, during the late afternoon on daylight flights. Your stewardess will offer you a choice of Manhattan, Martini, Old Fashioned, Scotch, Bourbon, Beer or soft drinks. You may request a second if you wish. However, cocktails will not be sold, not more than two served. Cocktails are offered in the main cabin only, so as not to interfere with the regular recreational activities for which the Hawaiian Lounge is intended.

A late buffet food service is provided on flights which depart after the dinner hour. With the buffet you will be offered a choice of cold beer, hot chocolate, coffee or tea.

Smoking facilities
We ask that those who prefer cigars and pipes smoke them in the Hawaiian Lounge instead of the in the main cabin. Cigarette smoking is permitted in the upper-deck compartments during the daytime and in the early evening except when the “No Smoking” sign is on. However, at late hours, we would appreciate it if you would smoke your cigarettes in the Lounge, so that your fellow passengers will be able to rest more comfortably.
