My wife and I have a garden railway in Arlington Virginia, built around our existing garden. It's more a decorative than an operational railroad, something for neighbors and passersby to enjoy. It's loosely modeled on mainline east coast roads of the late 40s and early 50s, with a few nods to the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad, which years ago ran near our house.

A partial over view. It's still pretty early spring here and the flowers, pond plants and especially the new plantings are just getting going.

The railroad starts in the car barn, where four assembled trains sit waiting.

One of the highlights is the village of Westover, which we're just starting to detail
