What Historians Do

Applied historians seek to apply their analytical and critical knowledge about history to the practical world. Curators, archivists, corporate historians, and librarians, for example, contribute to the furtherance of the humanities and social sciences across generations.

The application of technology to the study of history is an essential, and inevitable, evolution in the history profession. New and innovative technologies – such as meta-search and browse capabilities – must be utilized by historians because they provide exciting and efficient ways to explore the past.
