what historians do

The goals of historians are to research and interpret the past. This should be done in such a way as to inform those who are not knowledgeable about history as well as to extend the knowledge in a particular field. A secondary goal should be to write in such a way that that the final product is readable and perhaps even interesting.
New media can help accomplish these goals by providing additional resources as well as providing new and fascinating ways to present the material
