My experience with the Scavenger Hunt was an exercise in total frustration.
It began when I tried to fix an annoying problem on my own computer where I was getting messages every 30 seconds from Symantec that I was sending bad emails. (I was not sending emails.) This has been going on for months but I decided to fix it now. After many efforts to change settings and much agony, I decided to remove Symantec. When I did this, my email (for GMU) became inoperable and a whole bunch of things that I could do in Explorer could no longer be done. I was desperate and still am.
I use a phone line at home so my computer is slow anyway so I decided, after reading the sad stories of other searchers, that I would do the search on a GMU computer since they run faster than mine.
So today I did the searches limiting myself to 30 minutes. I found 3 sites which I had to write down. I could not cut and paste their addresses, because I was having problems with that kind of thing also. I found:
Willy Lynch
Found pretty easily.
Syllabus
Of course, I was helped on this search by someone’s comment that the syllabi were at the CHNM so I started there.
Cuban missile Discussion
The Khrushchev spelling in the instructions was not what I was familier with. I guess this is the right site. I did not read it carefully.
I might have spelled these wrong or something. I will try to check later.
Problem that was very annoying.
I thought the letter from Washington might be at the UVA repository of papers and Google found it but when I clicked on it, I could not get there. I checked the Library of Congress, but no match there I guess.
With Trotsky and the suffragettes, I did not succeed and the last 2 were past the time limit.
