I propose to examine a variety of sites presenting information and views of the First World War. The theme or structure of my review essay will be to compare the differences arising from origin, purpose, approach, content, intended use, etc., and how they affect the presentation of such a complex, multifacted topic. I will examine what audiences they appear intended to reach, how (or not) they deal with the historiography of this war and its continuing controversies, and how they use “new media” vs. archival or “papers on the web” approaches.
