Learning Patience - Shiny Object Syndrome
In this ‘have it all now’ world, sometimes it takes some work to learn patience. We want to have everything now. Everything seems to be instant and we have access to things and information at a much faster rate than ever before. In this day and age, we have come to expect that everything will be delivered to us instantly.
The digital age has brought us instant downloads, pay later, and many promises of a magic bullet solution to just about anything (think diet pill).
We have forgotten how to wait, how to be patient. Making any kind of change in your life requires patience, as most people do not become successful overnight in anything. As an entrepreneur, I suffer from what is known as “shiny object syndrome”. I get great ideas and start some of them, only to be tempted by the next “shiny object” that comes along.
This temptation definitely shifts my focus and slows down my progress. Instead of listening to my impulses, I have had to learn to be patient. Staying focused will bring you to your goals, especially if you focus on why you are working toward a particular goal.
The other problem with this instant gratification is that we forget to enjoy ourselves along the way in the journey of life. It is not the goal itself that is the best part, it is the path leading up to the goal that makes it all worth it. In any given situation, slow down and make sure you are in the moment, here and now. Give it your full attention.
Sometimes when we are in such a hurry, we don’t see things. For instance, there could be something wonderful right in front of you, but if you are rushing off or not paying attention, you could miss out. On the other hand, there may be a lesson that could be learned and by jumping on the freight train you completely pass it by.
Be present. Stay in the moment, wherever you are and whomever you are with. They deserve your attention and so do you. Be grateful for where you are and what it took to get to where you are so far.
If you notice what is around you instead of rushing down the path in search of the next shiny object, you just might find that this will bring much more joy and happiness in your life.
I think Heather Mathews’ Manifestation Miracle has some pretty powerful and fascinating stuff in it. For example, Manifestation Miracle guide teaches users to use “destiny tuning” to make the “law of attraction” work for them so that they can get exactly what they want. I won’t get too deep into the details, but similar to how gravity is a force of attraction, the law of attraction is, as I mentioned, basically a way to attract what we want to us. In other words, the law of attraction is a fundamental law of the universe, which is what Heather’s course helps teach simple ways to harness that power to help us achieve the things we want in life,
