The Organization of American Historians has agreed to establish Lawrence W. Levine prize for the best book in cultural history. To make the prize a reality, we must raise $50,000, which would endow an annual prize of $2000.

The Levine Prize Committee consists of Lynne Dumenil, Leon Litwack, Waldo Martin, Mike O'Malley and Roy Rosenzweig.

You can contribute to the Levine prize by credit card at the OAH website:

https://www.oah.org/giving/levineprize.html

If you prefer, checks can be made out to "OAH Prize Fund" with "Levine Award" on the memo line, and mailed to Roy Rosenzweig or Mike O'Malley, Department of History and Art History, MS 3G1, George Mason University, Fairfax, VA 22030.

To date we have raised $16, 000--we have a long way to go.

Please consider a donation. The Levine prize will not only honor Lawrence Levine, it will also recognize the importance of cultural history, a field he made so many significant contributions to. Currently, the OAH has no prize specifically for cultural history. The prize is thus a double recognition of Larry's work.
