I am an American historian working at the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media in the fields of scholarly communication, and digital and public history.
I am researching new methods for scholarly publishing as part of the PressForward project, for which I edit the experimental publications Digital Humanities Now and Journal of Digital Humanities and oversee the development of the PressForward plugin for WordPress.
I also teach undergraduate Introduction to Public History courses.
My historical research is in the fields of visual culture, immigration, race, and ethnicity, and public understandings of the past.
Previously I worked at RRCHNM on the September 11 Digital Archive, the ECHO: Exploring & Collecting History Online Project. I also have worked at the Smithsonian as a research assistant at the National Museum of American History, and a Gallery Educator at the National Portrait Gallery.
