Miriam Forman-Brunell is professor of history and the coordinator of the Girls' Studies Certificate at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is the author of Babysitter: An American History (2009) and Made to Play House: Dolls and the Commercialization of American Girlhood (1993; 1998). Forman-Brunell is the co-editor of The Girls' History and Culture Reader: The Nineteenth Century (2011) and The Girls' History and Culture Reader: The Twentieth Century (2011). She is also editor of Girlhood in America: An Encyclopedia (2002), The Story of Rose O'Neill: An Autobiography (1997), and series book editor of Children and Youth: History and Culture (2003-08). She is currently researching and writing a narrative synthesis, Girls Leading the Way in American History and Culture.
Forman-Brunell is an OAH Distinguished Lecturer and has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Woodrow Wilson Foundation, Smithsonian Institution, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Schlesinger Library. With Kelly Schrum, Forman-Brunell is co-director of Children & Youth in History.
