"McCarthy glass plate"--Back of hand-colored print. John G. (Jack) Stewart was born in Perth County, Ontario, Canada in 1876. He came to Park River, N.D., and worked as a hired farm hand. On April 1, 1903 he married Emily Orpe. Emily was born at Hereford, England in 1880. She came with her parents to Walsh County, N.D. in 1883.
