John G. (Jack) Stewart was born in Perth County, Ontario, Canada in 1876. He came to Park River, N.D., and worked as a hired farm hand. On April 1, 1903 he married Emily Orpe. Emily was born at Hereford, England in 1880. She came with her parents to Walsh County, N.D. in 1883. They farmed, and raised four children.
