Importing from Earlier Versions of Scribe

From Scribe 3.x to Scribe 3.5

1. Rename the old Scribe3.fp7 file Scribe3import.fp7 and place it in the new Scribe3 folder.
2. Open the new Scribe3.fp7 file and choose "Import" and then "Scribe 3.x Records..." from the File menu. Depending on how many records you have, the import may take from a few minutes to an hour.
3. When the import has concluded, you will see a list of your records in the new list view.

From Scribe 2.5 to Scribe 3.5

1. Back up all your files.
2. Put all the following files into the Scribe3 folder: Card.USR, Glossary.USR, Help.USR, Keywords.USR, Links.USR, Names.USR, Outline.USR, Preferences.USR, Scribe.USR, Timeline.USR.
3. Open Scribe3 file. From the Scripts menu, choose "Convert USR files". You may get several error messages--just click OK. Quit the program after the process is over.
4. Open Scribe3 again and choose "Import" and then "Scribe 2.5 Records..." from the File menu. Depending on how many records you have, the import may take from a few minutes to several hours.
5. When the import has concluded, you will see a list of your records in the new list view.

From Scribe Beta to Scribe 2.5

Put your old Sources.USR and Notes.USR files into the new Scribe Folder
Double-click on ScribeProject application icon
Choose From Scribe Beta from the Import menu.

Allow a few minutes for records to be imported. The more records you have, the longer it will take to import them.
