Where were you during the 2003 blackout in the Northeastern U.S. and Canada? (please include city and state)
Cleveland, Ohio
Tell your story:
I was at work at the NASA Glenn Research Center when the power went down and I noticed that the planes on approach at the nearby airport were all aborting their approaches so I knew something was wrong. Everyone at work tried to get local radio stations to see what was happening but they were all out. We eventually found national one that was talking about New York City being in the dark... at that point we knew it was a pretty big problem. A bunch of friends of mine ended up going to a bar in Lakewood that had generators running to light up the place a little and they were taking credit cards to pay for drinks so we ordered all of our drinks off of one guy's credit card. It was a fun (but hot) night and to top it all off, they never charged his credit card (for whatever reason) so we all drank for free that night! Who knew being without power could be so much fun?
In addition to saving your story to the archive, may we post it to the web? (yes/no)
