Where were you during the 2003 blackout in the Northeastern U.S. and Canada? (please include city and state)
Columbia Station, OH
Tell your story:
See the funny thing is Columbia Station/ Eaton Township is an old farmer-like town with only about 400 people. The entire city runs on generators. I was getting ready to go to work when I tried to use my cell phone to call to say I'd be late, but I was getting nothing. The lights and everything were working in the house, but when I turned on the TV people were reporting (obviously with battery backups) that there was blackouts everywhere. I decided to brave it and drive to work anyway like the good employee that I am. I got 20 mins into the city (cleveland) and I couldn't go anywhere becuase of traffic. There was so many accidents! I decided to take a sick day that day, seeing as I was working at Target and the power was out everywhere. I drove back to my little town and said thank god that I live an hour away from the city in a little rinky dink town that runs off of generators. I think me and my boyfriend and his brothers were the only ones to experience the happiness of a good day off....because we were farmers and we had power!

In addition to saving your story to the archive, may we post it to the web? (yes/no)
