Thoughts on the Columbia Space Shuttle Tragedy

What were your thoughts and feelings when you heard that Columbia was lost?
It was a sat. am I live fl. and work at the visitor complex, at KSC. I was waiting for the sonic booms to start my day I was to work later that day, when I didn't hear the booms I thought that well they went around for another orbit. and will be landing 90mins. later thats the time it takes to make one orbit 90 mins. So I started my day then called the update line, and it said the deorbit burn had occured on time over the south pacific, and thats when I turned on the TV and saw the footage of the breakup. said oh my god no and turned off the TV called work to find out that day we would be closed. On the following Mon. at work we had a table with books set up for the Visitors to sign, and this was one of the hardest things I had done ever, answering Q's about crew, name placement on the memorial, families of the crew and so much more. Most everyone was very emotional employees and visitors. To see the tears hitting the pages as people signed and wept on to the pages of the books. It was a very hard location to work.
Have your views of space travel changed over time?
As for my views of space travel changing, no we should continue, make it as safe as we can, but we should carry on.
