About the Scholar
Maureen Miller received her PhD from Harvard University
and is Associate Professor of History at the University of California,
Berkeley. She is author of two award-winning books: The Bishops
Place: Architecture and Authority in Medieval Italy, and The
Formation of a Medieval Church: Ecclesiastical Change in Verona,
950-115. Most recently she published Power and the Holy
in the Age of the Investiture Conflict: A Brief Documentary History,
in The Bedford Series in History and Culture.
