TABLE 2.19 REGRESSIONS FOR CONNECTEDNESS SERIES -- NATIONAL SAMPLE

We asked our respondents for the following information about six "occasions": "On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 means you felt no connection to the past and 10 means you felt a strong connection to the past, please tell me how connected to the past you felt on the following." The table below reports the OLS (ordinary least squares) Coefficients for regressions of the connectedness to the past on the six occasions under the table. These regressions are a statistical method for measuring the extent to which one or more variables (e.g., demographic characteristics like age or gender) affect another variable (e.g., connectedness to the past on a given occassion). The standard errors for the coefficients are in parentheses.
