I. Activites Related to the Past
All respondents were assigned a random number. Based on that random number, some interviewees were asked follow-up questions about the reasons why they pursued a particular activity. Those follow-up questions are indicated below the initial question. As the methodological appendix explains, interviewers were permitted to "probe" the respondents for further comments.
I am going to ask you some questions about the past. By the past, we mean everything from the very recent past to the very distant past, from your personal and family past to the past of the United States and other nations.
There are many activities that relate to the past. I'm going to ask you about some activites that you may have taken part in during the last 12 months.
